Air conditioning repair in Fairfield, CA

Diagnose first, then fix it — family-owned air conditioning repair in Fairfield and Solano County.

Local 104 UnionC-20 #1158490Owners on every job7-day emergency service

When the air conditioner runs and the house stays warm, the problem is usually one of a short list: a clogged filter, a failed capacitor, a dirty outdoor coil, low refrigerant from a leak, a frozen evaporator, a bad condenser fan, or a compressor that has reached the end. We start there. We do not start with a replacement quote.

Who we are

BlueSky Heating & Air is family-owned by Ryan and Matthew Vallis. We repair air conditioners across Fairfield, Vacaville, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, Rio Vista, and nearby Solano County. C-20 license #1158490, fully insured, Sheet Metal Workers Local 104. An owner is on every job. Call (510) 375-7839.

What an owner-on-the-job visit looks like

What an owner-on-the-job visit looks like: we confirm the thermostat and power, pull the filter, look at airflow, and check the outdoor unit for debris, bent fins, and a fan that actually spins. Then we test capacitors, contactors, and the refrigerant circuit. If the coil is frozen, we thaw it and find why — a filter and a low charge look similar until you measure. If we find a leak, we tell you where it is and what a repair costs versus a new system. You get the diagnosis in plain language before we ask you to approve work.

What fails in this county

Common failures in this county follow the climate. Inland cities — Fairfield, Vacaville, Dixon — run AC hard through dry, dusty summers. Coils foul. Capacitors open. Systems that were marginal in May fail in July. Bay-adjacent cities — Vallejo, Benicia, Suisun City — add moisture and, near the water, corrosion on outdoor cabinets. Rio Vista adds wind-blown debris. The repair is still the same trade. The cause is not always the same part.

Repair versus replace

Repair versus replace is a numbers conversation, not a scare. If the system is under about 10 years old and the repair is well below replacement cost, we repair it. If it is 12–15+ years old, still on R-22 (which we cannot just “top off” like the old days), or the repair is more than about a third of a new system, we will say replacement is the smarter spend and give you a written estimate. We also look at the ducts. A perfect new condenser on leaky attic ducts will still disappoint. Duct repair is our union sheet-metal work.

Every installation we do is backed by a 100% workmanship guarantee. Repairs are done to last, not to get us off the driveway. If a tune-up would have caught the failure, we will tell you that too — after we get you cool — and you can decide on maintenance later. No membership required to get the repair.

Hours and related work

Shop hours are Monday–Saturday, 7AM–7PM. If the house is overheating after hours, that is emergency HVAC: seven-day, call the owners. We also install and service heat pump systems and furnace repair when the other half of a split system is the problem.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my AC running but not cooling?
Most often: dirty filter, dirty outdoor coil, failed capacitor, low refrigerant, or a frozen evaporator. Turn the system off if you see ice so you do not damage the compressor. Then call (510) 375-7839. We diagnose before we quote.
Should I repair this AC or replace it?
Repair if it is under about 10 years old and the fix is well below replacement cost. Lean toward replace at 12–15+ years, on R-22, or if the repair is more than about a third of a new system. We will put both options in writing.
Do you repair AC in all of your Solano cities?
Yes. Fairfield, Vacaville, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, Rio Vista, and nearby Solano County. Same owners, same license, same approach.
