Furnace repair — heat that is safe, then heat that works

No-heat is a diagnosis and a safety check — family-owned furnace repair across Solano County.

Local 104 UnionC-20 #1158490Owners on every job7-day emergency service

A furnace that will not fire is uncomfortable. A furnace that fires unsafely is worse. We treat no-heat as a diagnosis and a safety check, not a parts-cannon visit. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your utility first. Then call us.

Who we are

BlueSky Heating & Air is family-owned by Ryan and Matthew Vallis. We repair and replace furnaces in Fairfield, Vacaville, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, Rio Vista, and nearby Solano County. C-20 #1158490, fully insured, Sheet Metal Workers Local 104. An owner is on every job. (510) 375-7839.

Solano winters and older furnaces

Solano winters are mild compared with the mountains, but nights still drop into the 30s and 40s. Older Vallejo and Benicia houses often still run original or near-original furnaces and, in some cases, floor furnaces. Inland homes in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Dixon may have a newer box that sat unused all summer and then failed on the first cold night. Rio Vista’s older stock is the same story with a longer drive. The failure modes overlap: dirty filter, bad ignitor, dirty flame sensor, failed inducer, cracked heat exchanger, blower that will not run, thermostat that never calls.

What the visit looks like

What the visit looks like. We confirm the thermostat is in heat and calling, check the switch and breaker, and pull the filter — a clogged filter is still the most common no-heat we see. Then we watch a full ignition sequence: inducer, ignitor or pilot, gas valve, flame sense, blower. We inspect the heat exchanger and venting. If the exchanger is cracked, that is a replace, not a patch. We will not “keep it going” through a combustion leak.

Repair versus replace

Repair versus replace stays the same rule as our cooling work. Under about 10 years with a contained part failure: repair. Twelve to 15-plus years, a cracked exchanger, or a repair over about a third of a new system: written options. If you are already looking at a new furnace, we will also talk about a heat pump where the house and electrical service support it. That is a fit conversation, not a mandate. Installs carry our 100% workmanship guarantee.

Ducts matter on heat the same as on AC. Leaky returns pull air from a dirty crawl. Undersized runs leave back bedrooms cold. That is sheet-metal work — our Local 104 trade — and we will say when the furnace is fine and the ducts are not.

Hours and related work

Shop hours are Monday–Saturday, 7AM–7PM. No-heat after hours is emergency HVAC: seven days, call the owners. We do not post Sunday shop hours. For cooling on the same system, see AC repair.

Frequently asked questions

My furnace will not turn on. What should I check before I call?
Thermostat set to Heat and above room temperature, furnace switch on, breaker on, filter not caked. If you smell gas, leave and call the utility. If it still will not fire, call (510) 375-7839.
When is a furnace not worth repairing?
A cracked heat exchanger is a replace. So is a 12–15+ year-old unit whose repair is more than about a third of a new system. Younger furnaces with an ignitor, flame sensor, or inducer failure are usually repairs. We will show you the part and the price.
Do you replace furnaces or only repair them?
Both. Repair when it is the right spend. Replace when it is not. Every install is backed by our 100% workmanship guarantee. We also discuss heat pumps when they fit the house.
